ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (27-Feb-19)

14/03/2019

Dear All,

\r\n\r\n

Thankyou to everyone who attended the AGM and those who sent in thoughts and ideas. The presentation of the AGM and the Minutes of the session are shared here:

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

The key items and changes are shared below:

\r\n\r\n
    \r\n
  1. For all our sponsored Tier 1 events (Airbus, Boeing, GE and SITAOnAir), though we will still operate a first-come, first served approach, priority will be given to Members who have played in three or more events in the preceding 12 months (not including the same event the previous season). Therefore, if an event is full, a Member who is outside of an allocated slot but who has played 3 or more EGS events will have priority over a Member who hasnt regardless of the timing of the registration.
  2. \r\n
  3. TheGrint membership is mandatory for all EGS Members and will now be used to monitor handicaps. Only those Members with official TheGrint handicaps (or EGF) will be allowed to win prizes. However, draws are still prepared through the Web site and so can all Members please ensure their handicaps are updated on the Web site on a regular basis (please go to the change profile link to do this).
  4. \r\n
  5. We will be removing all non-paid up Members from the database and the email distribution list in order to speed up the site. Subs are now due for 2019/20 (from April 1st), therefore can all Members please liaise with Paul Nightingale (paul.nightingale@emirates.com) in order to arrange payment if you wish to continue your Membership - he does accept bank transfers.
  6. \r\n
  7. We have 2 new Committee Members - Tim Harford and Stephen Holl. Their roles are shared in the enclosed Minutes. All other nominations remained the same.
  8. \r\n
\r\n\r\n

Finally, we would like to extend our thanks to all Members and Sponsors who continue to make this Society what it is today. From a Committee perspective, we look forward to continue to enhance and develop the Society for the FY 2019/20.

\r\n\r\n

Kind regards
\r\nCommittee

We were excited to have Boeing back as one of our key sponsors and, as in previous years, they were extremely generous and put on a great show. Hosted on the Earth course, the weather and conditions were sublime with some groups of players taking full advantage of them.

The format was a 4-man team event, with all net scores counting on par 5s, three scores counting on par 3s and two scores counting on par 3s. Dominic Breach, Shorty Callow, Kevin Howe and Ross Mackie took home the spoils with a combined score of 115 points, 2 points clear of their nearest rivals - Alex Robinson, Hasni Samad, Rosslee Wahid and Rob Tingle. In third place, a further four points adrift on 109 points were the team of Gareth Conley, Neil Lakhani, Mark Burtonwood and Richard Simpson. Nearest the pins were won by Craig Berry (4), Hannah Mannion (6), Tim Collins (17) and Dominic Breach (17). And finally, the 777 Boeing Prizes (three competitions of hole 7) were won by Alex Robinson (nearest to the pin in three shots), Longest putt (Stuart Dall) and Bastian Koster (straightest drive).

Many thanks again to Boeing for a wonderful day out!

Trump International hosted our annual Club Championships this year and due to several Tour players practising here during the week, the course was in stunning and "tour-like" conditions (tough pin placements and speedy greens). This didn\'t stop Seb Hall being crowned the overall Club Champion in a tightly contested match with all players struggling to overcome the difficult set-up. He won with a gross 29 points (78 equivalent) one point clear of second-placed Dominic Breach. The nett division was won by Dr Darryl Atkins scoring an impressive 37 points - his nearest rival, Justin Wee, was a further 4 points adrift.
