Boeing Day - Results

13/03/2006
(l-r) Iain Lachlan (Captain), Ted Green, Anthony Liddell, Greg Kerr, Eric Smith and Ken Schultz from Boeing
Boeing continued their immense support of Emirates Golf Society by hosting a fully-subscribed golf event at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. With massively subsidised golf and a tremendous variety of prizes - which included twelve golf clubs, 2 golf bags, two suit carriers and a host of miscellaneous gifts - it was, so far, the event of the year.
As in keeping with previous years, the format was a \"4-man\" Texas scramble and was, in the end, won comfortably by the team consisting of Ted Green, Anthony Liddell, Eric Smith and Greg Kerr with an extremely low score of 55.9. Each player received a Callaway Rescue Wood for their remarkable effort.
The second and third placed positions were far more hotly contested, with scores only being separated by a few tenths.... However, the team consisting of Iain Lachlan, Mike Woosley, Carl Brandenburg and Amanda Young managed to scrape the runners-up position, with a score of 59.2. Each received a Callaway 3 Wood. Closely following them were the third-placed team of Tim Burnell, Nick Marriott, Leo Fewtrell and Pat Casserly with a score of 60.7, each receiving a Callaway 5 Wood for their excellent efforts on the day.
There were also four (!) \"nearest-the-pin\" prizes. Bob Everest secured a Boeing/Callaway Travel Bag for his great effort on the 5th, as did Anthony Liddell on the 14th hole. Eric Smith was the beneficiary of a Boeing/Callaway headcover and balls for his shot on the 8th with Wayne Fu collecting a similar prize with his shot on the 16th. Just to round the day off, there was also a raffle for two Callaway/Boeing golf bags. Mike Woosley became a multiple winner when his name was drawn out of the hat, and John Reavy was the other lucky recepient.
Finally, we would like to thank Ken Schultz from Boeing for their great sponsorship of the event. It has now become the flagship of our golfing calendar!

We were excited to have Boeing back as one of our key sponsors and, as in previous years, they were extremely generous and put on a great show. Hosted on the Earth course, the weather and conditions were sublime with some groups of players taking full advantage of them.

The format was a 4-man team event, with all net scores counting on par 5s, three scores counting on par 3s and two scores counting on par 3s. Dominic Breach, Shorty Callow, Kevin Howe and Ross Mackie took home the spoils with a combined score of 115 points, 2 points clear of their nearest rivals - Alex Robinson, Hasni Samad, Rosslee Wahid and Rob Tingle. In third place, a further four points adrift on 109 points were the team of Gareth Conley, Neil Lakhani, Mark Burtonwood and Richard Simpson. Nearest the pins were won by Craig Berry (4), Hannah Mannion (6), Tim Collins (17) and Dominic Breach (17). And finally, the 777 Boeing Prizes (three competitions of hole 7) were won by Alex Robinson (nearest to the pin in three shots), Longest putt (Stuart Dall) and Bastian Koster (straightest drive).

Many thanks again to Boeing for a wonderful day out!

Trump International hosted our annual Club Championships this year and due to several Tour players practising here during the week, the course was in stunning and "tour-like" conditions (tough pin placements and speedy greens). This didn\'t stop Seb Hall being crowned the overall Club Champion in a tightly contested match with all players struggling to overcome the difficult set-up. He won with a gross 29 points (78 equivalent) one point clear of second-placed Dominic Breach. The nett division was won by Dr Darryl Atkins scoring an impressive 37 points - his nearest rival, Justin Wee, was a further 4 points adrift.
