\r\n\r\n

Treasurers Report

\r\n\r\n

The society is in healthy financial position for the 2007/8 season.

\r\n\r\n

Although it was highlighted that golf expenses have increased significantly in Dubai, it was agreed to keep subscriptions at AED 200/- for this season.

\r\n\r\n

Events/Fixtures

\r\n\r\n

A number of events have been secured for this year, however, difficulties are being experienced due to course availability and cost. It was highlighted that there will be 4 sponsored events and 4 non-sponsored events.

\r\n\r\n

The Captain will arrange the sponsored overseas team event. Event will be arranged by the end of November; initial feedback was that it would be best to arrange for March 2008.

\r\n\r\n

Prizes

\r\n\r\n

All agreed that, aside from sponsors requests and the Club Championship, prizes will be in the form of vouchers.

\r\n\r\n

Social Events

\r\n\r\n

It was decided to provide a more personal event as previous organized events have not been very well subscribed. The new Captain kindly volunteered to host an end of year barbecue.

\r\n\r\n

Membership

\r\n\r\n

Membership is robust; currently 100 members are registered on the website (2 paid).

\r\n\r\n

Membership will continue to be open for Emirates Group staff and their spouse. Non-Emirates Group staff will no longer be able to join, although Grandfather Rights apply for current non-Group members.

\r\n\r\n

Sponsorship Status

\r\n\r\n

Sponsorships have been agreed with: Boeing, Airbus, Fedex and Emirates Flight Catering. Negotiations are currently in place with GE and Rockwell Collins.

\r\n\r\n

Any Other Business (AOB)

\r\n\r\n

Bob Atkins, in absentia, asked for a ruling regarding outstation staff and their ability to register for events. It was agreed that \r\n(a) outstation staff are welcome to join the Society and pay the registration fee and become full members, \r\nor; \r\n(b) register as a Guest by emailing the webmaster.

\r\n\r\n

NB: It was agreed that EK staff / spouse registered would have a higher priority than other Guests.

\r\n\r\n

In closing A special thanks to Darryl Atkins for his contribution to the society over the last few years.

We were excited to have Boeing back as one of our key sponsors and, as in previous years, they were extremely generous and put on a great show. Hosted on the Earth course, the weather and conditions were sublime with some groups of players taking full advantage of them.

The format was a 4-man team event, with all net scores counting on par 5s, three scores counting on par 3s and two scores counting on par 3s. Dominic Breach, Shorty Callow, Kevin Howe and Ross Mackie took home the spoils with a combined score of 115 points, 2 points clear of their nearest rivals - Alex Robinson, Hasni Samad, Rosslee Wahid and Rob Tingle. In third place, a further four points adrift on 109 points were the team of Gareth Conley, Neil Lakhani, Mark Burtonwood and Richard Simpson. Nearest the pins were won by Craig Berry (4), Hannah Mannion (6), Tim Collins (17) and Dominic Breach (17). And finally, the 777 Boeing Prizes (three competitions of hole 7) were won by Alex Robinson (nearest to the pin in three shots), Longest putt (Stuart Dall) and Bastian Koster (straightest drive).

Many thanks again to Boeing for a wonderful day out!

Trump International hosted our annual Club Championships this year and due to several Tour players practising here during the week, the course was in stunning and "tour-like" conditions (tough pin placements and speedy greens). This didn\'t stop Seb Hall being crowned the overall Club Champion in a tightly contested match with all players struggling to overcome the difficult set-up. He won with a gross 29 points (78 equivalent) one point clear of second-placed Dominic Breach. The nett division was won by Dr Darryl Atkins scoring an impressive 37 points - his nearest rival, Justin Wee, was a further 4 points adrift.
