Paul Nightingale continued his good form with a level par round at Al Zorah and another impressive 37 points. Nearest-the-pins were won by: Dean Moss (2), Simon Flanders (5), Dean Moss (15) and Shorty Callow (17).

We also had some excellent feedback from the club and also kept our pace of play up - \"May I say that your group on Saturday were outstanding. Everyone was so polite during check in and on the course and without doubt the best group we\'ve hosted all year. \"

28/05/2018

Third place, and a further one point adrift was Conleth Kelly who claimed the final podium place on a countback from Liam Hanlon.

This years ASCA Golf Tournament was hosted by Austrian Airlines in Austria at the Bad Waltersdorf Golf & Hotel resort. Emirates Golf Society entered 2 mens and 1 ladies team to compete for the coveted ASCA trophy - a scratch inter-airline Golf tournament.

\r\n

The Tournament is a 2 day competition, with the first round being a pairs betterball stableford and the second round individual stableford, with the points providing an overall accumulative score.

\r\n

The first round was played in torrential rain, conditions not conducive to the Emirates team, but this did not deter the Mens pairing Mike Piek & Rhys Dudley who scored a superb 40 points which gave the Emirates Mens A team a significant lead on the first days play.

\r\n

The Ladies pairing of Hannah Mannion & Rachael Maitland scored a respectable 26 points in the adverse weather conditions knowing that a strong performance on day two was required if they were to win for a third successive year.

\r\n

On day 2 the sun shone brightly and all teams were looking for strong performances. The Mens A team again had strong performances from Mike & Rhys with Dominic Breach and Team Captain Paul Nightingale helping to give an overall score of 199 points which was sufficient to give them a comfortable 15 points lead over their nearest rivals Iceland Air and winning the ASCA trophy for the third time in the last 5 years.

\r\n

After a serious team talk from the Ladies team captain (Hannah Mannion), all 4 ladies came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders knowing that to win a 3rd successive ASCA tournament they would have to overturn an 8 point deficit. The Ladies Captain (Hannah) led the way with the round of the tournament scoring an excellent 34 points, with equally impressive rounds from Racheal Maitland, Vicky Morris and Darli Ogawa. With an overall score of 83 points, the Ladies were unsure if they had done enough to retain the ASCA trophy. The Finnair Ladies team finished on 83 points as well, following a tense wait the Emirates Ladies team won on the countback by a margin of 2 points.
