The first week of September saw the Emirates mens and ladies teams travel to Finland to play in the ASCA Interairline Golf competition. The course was playing tough with quick and undulating greens however the first round pairs saw the ladies take a 5 point lead with 37 points being scored by the pairing of Rachael Maitland and Hannah Mannion. In the mens competition, even with the best overall male score from Tony Benecke and Rhys Dudley of 36 points, the team ended day 1 in second, 6 points adrift.
On the final day the team rallied to try and make up the lost ground but despite Tony Benecke shooting the lowest score of the day with 33 points, the team was unable to overhaul the deficit and unfortunately finished second to a strong Finnair side.
The ladies also found day 2 tough but despite this they were able to do enough to take the title by a single point with the best contribution coming from Rachael Maitland with 24 points.
Congratulations to the ladies for another fantastic win and we look forward to defending that title and trying to win back the mens trophy next year in Stockholm!
