We will try and have a prize giving after the event as the gap between first and last groups is minimal.
\r\nThough it was a hot and humid first day of October, it was a welcome return to our Airbus Day after nearly two years. We were hosted at the Fire course, JGE and the format was slightly unusual to our normal events - it was a pairs event where both players scores counted on the odd holes and the better ball score counted on the even holes.
The overall winners on the day were Peter Allan and Tim Harford who scored a combined 60 points and walked away with Ping cart bags for their efforts. Our sponsor, Usman Mastan and his guest Dario Rubio claimed second place with 58 points, but kindly donated their prizes to a raffle. There were two teams on 57 points, with the pairing of Amit Khandelwal and Manu Mathew nudging ahead of the fourth placed pair of Rudi Wilson-Smith and Bastiaan Koster on a count-back.
Justin Wee wanted to make sure of his nearest-the-pin prize by holing out on 14 from his tee shot - congratulations on your "hole-in-one"! JGE generously donated some gifts to celebrate this extraordinary shot. Other nearest-the-pins were won by: Peter Allan (hole 2), Tim Collins (hole 8) and Dario Rubio (hole 11) in the traditional way....
Many thanks again to Airbus, who hosted another excellent day and evening to remember.
The draw for tomorrow\\\'s event at Fire, JGE is shared below. Please remember to bring CASH to pay for the golf and note that you won\\\'t be able to access a cash machine at JGE.... The price is Dhs 250 which includes golf, shirt, giveaways, prizes and an evening buffet. Just as a head\\\'s-up, the buffet will be outside so it may be a little warm depending on how kind the weather is for us.

The format of the day is a PAIRS event where each two players counts their combined nett stableford points on the odd holes (e.g. 1, 3, 5, etc) and counts the nett better ball stableford of the pair on the even holes (e.g. 2, 4, 6, etc.). Therefore, there are potentially far more points on the odd numbered holes as both players contribute. Only the better ball of the pair contributes on the even numbered holes... The handicaps have already been calculated, so please don\\\'t change these. If in doubt, just record both players\\\' scores :).
\r\nCongratulations to Bastiaan Koster who won this week\'s event at Sharjah - Bastiaan scored an impressive 36 points, two points clear of his nearest challengers. Second-place went to Peter Allan who pipped his good friend James Walters on a count-back - both players had 34 points. Our next event is the Airbus Day, on Friday 1st October - see you all there!

At this weeks event at Al Zorah, the podium places went to three players who all had 38 points and therefore, had to be separated on a count back (this is a first, I believe, for the top three). The best back-nine was posted by Brendan OConner and thus he took the top prize. Though both were 1-under for their back nine, Dominic Breach took second prize from Tim Collins after separating them only on the last two holes.
\r\n\r\nCongratulations to all and we hope you all have a wonderful Summer. See you in September at the Trump International for our next event.
