The Boeing Day was a tough test for many of the players who combated windy conditions on the Earth course this weekend. However, this didn\'t stop the team of Stephen Holl, Nicolas Posada, Tim Harford and Nimit Amin scoring an impressive 87 points and claiming first prize, seven points clear of their nearest rivals. Second place went to the team of Tim Collins, Martin Mahoney, Andrew McFarlane and Erwan Testard (80 points), whilst the four-ball of Steve Allen, Matt Wilks, Paul King and Mark Burtonwood completed the podium places on 76 points (winning on a count back).
Nearest the pins were won by Dominic Breach (6th) and Russ Saunders (17th).
Many thanks to Boeing who continue to be extremely generous hosts with their continued sponsorship of the event.

John McGuinness produced a stunning display of golf and carded a gross 71 to win the 2018/19 Emirates Club Championship in difficult, windy conditions at AL Zorah. Though he double bogeyed the 12th and bogeyed the 9th holes, birdies on 6, 11, 15 and 16 brought home the win. His close friend and golfing partner, Denver Farrell, also scored an excellent 76, taking the second-placed gross prize.
\r\n\r\nAndrew McFarlane continued his great form by winning the net division - his net score of 35 points was enough to see off Dominic Breachs 34 points (who was also one off the pace of the gross division).
\r\n\r\nNearest-the-pins were won by Thomas Viallaneix (2), Rhys Dudley (5), Tim Collins (15) and Kris Ellingsen (17).
With the start of the 19/20 event calendar in April, we will introduce a new mandatory EGS handicap system. This will provide accuracy and ensure fair play at EGS events, as well as allowing us to hopefully remove the current handicap restriction.
\r\nWe have chosen The Grint as the most appropriate free online handicap calculator.
\r\nAs well as calculating an accurate USGA handicap, The Grint also enables us to manage tournaments online and utilise the on-course live scoring feature through their app. The Grint contains course data for over 37,000 courses worldwide, allowing you to record all of your scores as well as optional statistics such as FIR, GIR & putts. You can also add other golfers as friends, to see where theyre playing and how theyre shooting in real time.
\r\nMany of you also already enjoy using The Grint, and we have successful trialled the app with a limited group at several recent EGS events.
\r\nFor those who are already EGF Members, TheGrint allows you to retrospectively put in your scores, so your handicaps can be aligned.
\r\n\r\nProcess:
\r\n- \r\n
- Simply sign up for a free account on The Grint Website or App. You can pay an optional annual subscription for a pro membership if you wish, which opens up access to collect more statistics on your game. \r\n
- Send your Username to Tim Harford, who will add you to the EGS Club on The Grint. This allows us to add you to an online event each tournament. \r\n
- Enter your score every time you play. To get an accurate handicap sooner, you can enter as many previous rounds from recent months as you wish. It takes less than 30 seconds to enter each score in The Grint. \r\n
We encourage you to do this ASAP, to ensure you all have accurate handicaps prior to the start of the new season in April.
\r\nNotes:
\r\n- \r\n
- In order to participate in a EGS event from 1-Apr-19, you must have paid your EGS annual membership fee. \r\n
- From 1-Apr-19, we are also hoping to implement only Grint-registered handicaps are eligible to win prizes. You also must be part of the EGS Club on The Grint. \r\n
- You must have at least 5 recent scores entered into The Grint to calculate a handicap. A mature handicap is calculated by using the top 10 of your most recent 20 scores. \r\n
- Ideally, all of your scores should be attested by an accompanying player also using The Grint. Again, we would like at least 50% of your scores to be attested. \r\n
- Please regularly update your profile on the EGS web site with your most recent handicap. \r\n
- Note that The Grint handicap is not yet officially recognised by most golf clubs. To participate in official club events outside of the EGS, you will also need to maintain an EGF handicap. \r\n
- It is your responsibility to maintain a fair and accurate handicap. We will not adjust your handicap but the committee will be monitoring unusual Stableford scores at EGS events. \r\n
- If you do not play regularly and are not confident that your handicap is accurate and fair towards other competitors, please disclose this to us. \r\n
The draw for Saturdays Club Championship is shown below. Please note, the order is roughly based on handicaps - the lower handicapped players will be teeing off first.
