There was a new format in this year\'s Transguard Day at the Trump International Golf Club - it was a pairs better-ball with the best score of the two players counting on holes 1 to 12 and both scores counting on holes 13 to 18, which increased the pressure on both the players down the stretch. However, it was easy picking for the pairing of Bruce Scott and Karl Huldal who produced a tremendous combined score of 54 points - this was three points clear from their nearest rivals of Dominic Breach and Russ Saunders on 51 points who beat Wayne Classen and Shaun Anderson on a count-back.
Other prizes on the day, apart from the seemingly ever-present raffle prizes were the nearest-the-pins and these were won by: Dominic Breach (3rd), Wayne Classen (5th), Paul Gingell (15th) and Nic Posada (17th).
Many thanks for Transguard for hosting yet another tremendous day of golf and Trump International Golf Club.
The inaugural GE Aviation Golf Day was held at a sun-drenched Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. The players benefited from a change in temperature and a course that was in immaculate condition, but as usual provided a tremendous test of golf, with the cream of the Emirates Group players rising to the top in a densely packed leader-board.
\r\n\r\nThe top three players were inseparable on 34 points - Tony Benecke, Michael Pike and Wayne Classen all jostled for position and could have taken the top prize. However, it was Tony Benecke who, when reviewing the count-back had a better back nine from Michael Piek, who clinched second place and Wayne Classen who finalised the podium places.
\r\n\r\nOther course prizes provided a boon to the rest of the days players - nearest-the pins were won by Iqbal Ismal (5th and 14th), Paul Marson (8th) and Ross Mann (16th).
\r\n\r\nGE Aviation also provided a range of vouchers and other clubs as raffle prizes - these were all much appreciated by the lucky winners!
\r\n\r\nMany thanks to GE Aviation for their generous hospitality and support for the inaugural GE Aviation / Emirates Golf Day - we hope it will be the first of many more!
