Congratulations to Peter Boylan who is the new Airbus Champion, carding 37 points, one point clear of his nearest rival Tim Collins. The course was long and with swirling winds and difficult pin positions on most holes, it was an impressive round!
The event also coincided with a new format - a Blind Pairs event, which seemed to be enjoyed by all! Winners on the day were Steve Allen and Gavin Hitzeroth who carded 68 points between them but only clinched the prize after a “putt-off” with second-placed pair, Craig McBride and Peter Perrit. In third place (again, won on a “putt-off”) were Leo Fewtrell with his partner Bernard Heng (65 points). They beat Stephen Holl and Amaldev Abraham. Fifth prize was awarded to Peter Boylan and Wayne Classen on 64 points.
Nearest the pins were won by Peter Boland (2nd), Warren Panting (7th), Dean Moss (12th) and Mike Wells (17th).
Many thanks, again, to Airbus for sponsoring the day - it was a fantastic day and evening hosted by the Ranches, enjoyed by both golfer and family alike.

We will choose the pairs from the “hat” during the evening entertainment. Note, you do have to be at the BBQ in the evening to quality for the blind pairs prizes…
\r\n\r\nIt’s a 1230 start, and the BBQ will start around 1700 at the Birdies Terrace next to the Practice Ground.
\r\n\r\nSee you all there!
\r\nAs indicated at the last event, we are very excited to inform you that Airbus will be sponsoring our next event at the Arabian Ranches. It has been a few years since the last Airbus Day, so we are making it a special occasion and are proposing having a family BBQ straight after the event. Until we know final numbers we can’t confirm whether a small contribution will be required for the family. Therefore, when you register could you please indicate in the “comments” box if you intend attending the BBQ and whether you will be inviting any family/friends. We also will require your shirt size.
Full event details are as indicated below and registration is now open on the website:

Time: 1230
Venue: Arabian Ranches
Cost: Dhs 150 for Members; (Dhs 450 for Guests, inc. BBQ)
Registration to the event is on a first-come, first-served basis, though EGS Members will always have priority over Guests.
Please note, the usual conditions apply (i.e. “no-shows” and cancellations once registration is closed will be charged a penalty of Dhs 300 irrespective of reason and/or whether we can fill your slot with a reserve - Society Members are responsible for their guests in this instance also).

ASCA in Spain (June 2013):
\r\n\r\nWe are also looking at sending a team (or teams) to the World Airline Golf Tournament to be hosted by Iberia in Spain. We don’t have exact details yet but have been sent this message:
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDear Delegates,
\r\n\r\nAlthough it isnt officially confirmed yet the exact dates, I can assure you almost 100% that the ASCA 2013 Golf Tournament will be celebrated in Spain the first week of June (5, 6,7 & 8 or 6,7,8 & 9, depending on the golf course availability), so reserve your holiday days for that time. Late November or early December I hope well be able to confirm the dates exactly and perhaps other details. We also expect the whole package details to be published early 2013.
\r\n\r\nIt would help us to know how many teams would be interested in participating, so introduce your teams in the homepage at least with the status “INTERESTED” till we publish the package details that permit you confirm your participation.
\r\n\r\nThank you for your co-operation.
\r\n\r\nBest regards,
\r\n\r\nPaco Puerta\r\nIBERIA ASCA Delegate
\r\n
Could you please register your interest on the link on the Web site - it is, unfortunately, only open to Emirates Group staff (not spouse or honorary members). Once we know exact details, we will be collecting deposits from interested players in early 2013. Previous events have normally been priced around the Euro 400 mark. You may also wish to know that there are some CAT C Firm tickets currently available around that time to Madrid….
Unfortunately, we have just been informed that Abu Dhabi GC are now unable to host us for the Boeing Day on 11th November due to unplanned maintenance being undertaken. Furthermore, we have not been able to secure another venue so we have made the decision to delay this event to the new year. The new date will hopefully be released shortly.
Please accept our apologies, but this was beyond our control.
