Al Zorah was in tremendous condition and, not impeded by the usual wind that can made scoring at the exposed Al Zorah challenging, Scott Armour made an impressive 37 points to win the Society\'s first event of 2017! Justin Spalding just missed out and was one point adrift, coming in on 36 points and collected second-place. A little further back, and in third place was Scott\'s playing partner, Andrew McFarlane who scored 33 points.

Nearest-the-pins were won the in-form players - Andrew McFarlane (2), Tim Harford (5), Justin Spalding (15) and Scott Armour (17).

Please note, “no-shows” and cancellations once registration is closed will be charged a penalty of Dhs 300 irrespective of reason and/or whether we can fill your slot with a reserve - Society Members are responsible for their guests in this instance also. You will also be excluded from entry to the next event. If it happens twice in a season, you will be excluded from registering for any event during the rest of the season and will also be liable for a fine of Dhs 300. Any waiver of the penalties will be in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of the committee.

Mike Wells produced a scintillating display of golf in windy conditions at the Earth course, JGE, to win the SITAONAIR Golf Day. Mike scored an impressive 38 points, easily beating the second-placed player, Tim Harford who scored 33 points. One point further adrift was Paul King. Nearest the pins were won by Tim Collins, Tim Harford and MIke Wells. Thank-you to our sponsors, Franck Michaud and SITAONAIR, who continue to be generous in their support of the Society.

Congratulations to Tim Harford who personally scored 35 points and collected a further 5 points from his Race to Dubai Pro to make an overall score of 40 points. He won the coveted Airbus vase. Two points behind was Paul Nightingale who in fact shot 1 better that his Race to Dubai Pro, recording a gross 71 and ending with 38 points. Dominic Breach came third ion a countback from a host of players on 37 points. Well done to all and, again, many thanks to Airbus in sponsoring one of the top events of the year!

The draw for this week\\\'s Airbus Day is shown below. It is a "blind pairs" event - you will be randomly paired with a golfer playing in the DP World Championship and for each shot under par they are on the day, this will be added to your stableford score. E.g., if you are paired with Lee Westwood and he shoots 68, your score will be increased by 4 points.

After the final round in our Summer Sizzler Series, no one was able to catch-up with Paul Nightingale and who continued his good run of form by winning the final event on 33 points. Ultan Kenny and Paul King shared 2nd and 3rd place on the day with 32 points. Final standings after four events were as follows:

  1. Paul NIghtingale: 75 points
  2. Tony Benecke: 68 points
  3. Paul King: 64 points
  4. Tim Collins: 63 points
  5. John McGuinness: 63 points

The draw for this week\\\'s mini-Ryder Cup event is shown below - Steve Allen is captaining the UK side, John McGuiness is captaining the Rest of the World.

The format of the day is that each pair will play better-ball stableford from 3/4s handicap - the total points will contribute to the team score. Furthermore, each team can contribute a further 2 points if they beat the other pairing in better-ball stableford matchplay. Therefore, each team will be contributing by (a) the better-ball stableford score and (b) whether they beat the other pairing in their group in better-ball matchplay. \r\n
