The ICC Golf Day has now been rescheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 20th Jan 2011. It is a fully subsidised event, which includes an evening meal. We have 20 spaces available. As registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, can you please ensure that you are 100% certain of playing prior to registering, as you may stop someone else from playing. Also, priority will be given to EK staff over non-staff (associates, spouse).

To avoid any confusion, any previous registrations for this event (originally scheduled in November) have been deleted, therefore if you did register for the previous one, you need to register again!

It was one of the smallest fields of the year, but it was still a very entertaining day at Jebel Ali. The weather was perfect for playing golf, though as seems to be normal at Jebel Ali, it is a difficult course to score on! The winner on the day was the guest of Simon Mackenzie, Richard Berry, with a commendable 34 points, who beat both Cees van Dooren, Jaco Rudolph (Paul Stump’s guest) and Ted Green by just one point (who all had 33 points). Cees pipped second place with a better back nine from Jaco and then Ted (19 vs 17 vs 15 points, back nine scores).

We also had two nearest-the-pin prizes: Jaco Rudolph took the prizes on the 8th hole and Wayne Classen on hole 11.

As it was a rolling start, we didn’t have a prize giving afterwards, therefore we will distribute the prizes at the next event.

In keeping with their name, OnAir are sponsoring a special two-event format at both the Earth (22nd January) and Fire (12th February) courses at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. Registration for both the events are now live .

Note: there are a limited number of spaces available (40, which includes the sponsors invitation), so please register early. Note, guests will only be accommodated if there are spaces available and will be charged significantly more.

We are still fine-tuning the event format, but it is likely that both events will be an individual stableford, with associated prizes, and the overall OnAir Champion being the player with the best cumulative score (i.e. total of both stableford scores).

Congratulations to Paul Nightingale who survived a small scare on the 18th (he lost a ball) to retain this year’s club championship with a gross core of 79, one shot clear of David Loftus (who won the “nett” overall). In distant third place was Tim Collins on 85. As mentioned, David won the best “nett” on a count-back from David Moore - both posted nett 72s. A further stroke back was Tony Benecke. David Moore was also the recipient of two “Nearest-the-pin” prizes.

Enclosed is Saturday\'s draw for the Club Championship. Please note it is a rolling start. Lunch will be served towards the end, so there will be a small wait for the front-runners. Could you please make every effort to stay, though, for the sake of the sponsors. (Note, we do have two spare slots, so if want to play and have not yet registered, please email us..... First come, first served.)

The ICC event (next Tuesday evening at the Faldo) is now closed - we are currently slightly oversubscribed, but will confirm teams later this week. We still have a couple of spaces left for the Club Championship later this month - as soon as we get to our allocation (36), we will be closing registration. Therefore, if  you have not yet registered and want to play, please do so as soon as possible.
