The Society enjoyed a wonderful day at the Faldo course on Saturday - the weather was just perfect. We played off the blue tees and although the greens were slower than they normally are, it was a good test of golf for all concerned. The winner this week was one of our guests Scott Armour who accumulated 41 points. The runner-up was a swashbuckling David Moore on 36 points who just edged out Paul Nightingale on a count-back. Nearest-the-pins were won by Tim Collins (hole 8) and David Moore (hole 12).

We have received some great rates to play at Tower Links. They are shown below:

• Midweek: AED 195/- per person
• Fridays: AED 330/- per person
• Saturdays: AED 299/- per person

Registration is now open for April's event at the Majlis. (Note: unfortunately, contrary to earlier emails, it is not being sponsored by Boeing as this event has now been moved to later in the year.) Details of the event are:

Noel Connolly pretty much blew away all the opposition at the Els Day with a mammoth 47 points - this was an incredible 11 shots below his handicap.... Great, great score and one which I can't recall ever seeing in the EGS. Second place went to Nigel Hopkins on 40 points who beat Paul Stump on a countback. To finish off the day, NTPs went to Craig McBride and Dave Green.

Paul Nightingale successfully defended this year\'s Emirates Flight Catering Club Championship at the Els. He played an excellent round and came in with a gross 77. In the end he won easily - his nearest rival was Iain Lachlan who was 7 shots adrift. Tim Collins came third with a gross score of 85.
The \"net\" prizes were won by Didier Sanders (39 points), Mike Woosley (38 points) and in third, Franc Michaud (36 points). The best guest was Jim Pugh who scored 38 points. Nearest-the-pins were won by Trevor Sanders and Jim Pugh.

Below are the tee times for this weeks event at the Els club (the number in brackets indicates which tee you will be playing off first). Full details are as follows:

Price: AED 100/- (Guests: AED 400/-) - each player will get a shirt, cap and ball on registration. Furthermore, full lunch buffet is included including soft drinks.

Format: Gross (Club Champion) and Individual Stableford. Please note, you will be required to fill both your gross and stabelford score on your cards.

As a 'heads-up', you should be aware that both the weekend of this tournament and the previous weekend are extremely busy on the Dubai golfing calendar due to the influx of traffic coming to see the Race to Dubai. Therefore, the Els have requested I send them final confirmation of the numbers by 12th November for this event - any cancellation after this time will incur the full green fee charge (AED 600/-). I will send an email reminder nearer the time as a reminder.
