The 10th annual SITAOnAir Golf Day was held at Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course this year.

The course was in superb condition just three weeks after the DP World Tour Championships. The longer rough, tight lies and fast greens proved a challenge for many.

After the golf the group enjoyed a buffet and prizegiving on the clubhouse terrace overlooking the 18th green with many family members in attendance.

• Chris Rees took home the trophy with an excellent 39 points.
• Two points behind in solo second place was Craig McBride.
• Taking third place after a countback from a crowded group on 36 points with a 3-under back nine was Paul Nightingale.
• Nearest-the-pins were won by Jannie Ebersohn (4), Hasni Samad (13), and Paul Nightingale (6 & 17).

SITAOnAir also provided three clubs as raffle prizes which were all much appreciated by the lucky winners!

Based on feedback from a number of golf clubs recently, we would like to remind you all that it is solely your responsibility to fill out scorecards in a complete, accurate and consistent manner.

It is not the job of the golf club staff to add totals and calculate Stableford points on your behalf.

Scoring procedure

\r\n
• When you receive your scorecard, check that the names and handicaps printed on the cards are correct.
\r\n
• Handicaps have been adjusted according to the event format in advance. If there is a clear error, raise it with a committee member before you submit the card.
\r\n
• Always swap your cards with your opponents in the other cart before starting the round. Do not mark your own. Check your opponents� names and handicaps before the round starts.
\r\n
• Mark the holes where each player gets an extra shot or more based on the hole index and their handicap, if the scorecard does not already show these.
\r\n
• Check the event format and local rules printed on the scorecard�s accompanying sheet before you start playing.
\r\n
• After each hole you should write the gross shots, net shots and Stableford points for all 4 players. This prevents mistakes and shows the calculation steps taken.
\r\n
• Ensure that your handwriting is clear, so that the club staff & EGS Committee can review cards easily after you submit them.
\r\n
• Keep your own score, along with your playing partner�s score on your opponents card, so you can check your opponents have marked your cards correctly later.
\r\n
• Total the gross shots and Stableford points for each player after each 9 and after 18.
\r\n
• Swap back cards with your opponents after the round, check all scores for all players together, and only sign if all scores match.
\r\n
• Scorecard format varies between clubs, so use your judgement to ensure all the data is captured for all 4 players.
\r\n
• It always helps if the lowest handicap in the group monitors the filling of scorecards, as well as managing the pace of play for the group.

The annual Airbus Golf Day was held at Trump International Golf Club this year. \'The Airbus Cup\' was introduced where half of the field competed in an Airbus select team, against an Emirates team in a \'Ryder Cup\' style betterball matchplay event.

After the golf the group enjoyed a BBQ buffet and prizegiving on the clubhouse terrace overlooking the course with many family members in attendance.

• Team Airbus won the inaugural Airbus Cup in a close battle, by just one match (7-6).
• Tim Collins & Paul Nightingale won the top pair trophy on a countback with 40 points.
• In second place also with 40 points, was the team of Sam Tierney & Dominic Breach
• Nearest-the-pins were won by Craig McBride (3), Paul Nightingale (5) Mark Burtonwood (15) and Nim Amin (17).
• The Longest Drive was won by Usman Mastan.
• The Straightest Drive was won by Tim Collins.

Airbus also provided a range of raffle prizes which were all much appreciated by the lucky winners!

The second annual GE Aviation Golf Day was held at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. With summer drawing to a close, the playing conditions at our first sponsored event of the year were fantastic, and luckily not too windy!

After the golf the group enjoyed an excellent BBQ buffet on the clubhouse terrace overlooking the course. It was great to see so many players partners coming along to enjoy the social side of our society.

• Didier Sanders produced his best score since Jan-18 to win outright on 37 points.
• Second place with 36 points, was taken by Brendan O\'Conner.
• Shaun Anderson finished in third place.
• Nearest-the-pins were won by Wayne Classen (5), Steve Holl (8) Liam Hanlon (14) and Aad Voorting (16).
• The Longest Drive was won by Hannah Mannion (7).
• The Straightest Drive was won by Paul Marson (17).

GE Aviation also provided a range of raffle prizes which were all much appreciated by the lucky winners!

In addition to the GE event prizes we also took the opportunity to present a brand new trophy to the winners of the 18-19 team matchplay series. Coincidentally it was won by two of our GE hosts for the day - Dario Rubio and Alberto Rubio. Registration for the 19-20 team matchplay will open soon.

The draw is shown below. Please note, it is a Ryder Cup style team event - an Airbus \"Select\" vs Emirates Captain\'s \"Select\". Each pair will play a better-ball against the other pair in the Group. All players will play from 3/4 TheGrint/EGF course handicap. It will be a Ryder Cup style event - therefore, each match will be a win, draw or lose. The Airbus team will be wearing white shirts, the Emirates team, red.

Teams should also record their better-ball score (from 3/4 TheGrint/EGF course handicap) to also have the opportunity to win prizes - we will be awarding the \"best team\" and \"runner-up\".

Alberto Rubio won the last of the summer events, scoring an impressive 39 points at the Els - he has capped a great 6 months after also netting the Matchplay with his brother earlier in the year. On the same score but losing out on the back nine countback was Kevin Howe. The final podium spot was taken by Bruce Scott who scored 35 points.

Finally, nearest-the-pins were won by: Didier Sanders (2nd), Karl Huldal (4th), Luke Gregori (11th) and Louis Swanepoel (17th).
