The event at Al Zorah was hot and humid, but we still had a very good turnout! Unfortunately, we didn�t realise until afterwards that Al Zorah were not analysing the cards due to COVID restrictions and thus we have tried to cobble together the results of the day which appear to be as follows (tentative):

1st: George Thompson (43 points)

2nd: Paul King (41 points)

3rd: Mark Love (40 points)

Our annual Captain\'s Day was again hosted at Arabian Ranches Golf Club this year, which is shaping up nicely after having the greens replaced over the summer. As is tradition, the tournament was a pairs betterball event.

After the golf the group enjoyed pie & chips with prizegiving outdoors at the restaurant by the range. It was again great to have so many family members in attendance. Our Captain Steve gave an entertaining speech summarising what we hope you agree was a fantastic year for our society.

• Brendan O\'Connor & Mark Vipond won the top prize with an enormous 45 points.
• Just one point behind in solo second place was the team of Peter Allan & James Walters.
• Nearest-the-pins were won by Shorty Callow (2), Tim Collins (7), John Moseley (12), and Tony Benecke (17).

Starting a new tradition made possible by the statistics we gather from TheGrint, we introduced two new annual recognition awards:

• Kevin Howe was the awarded \'Member of the Year\'. Kevin played the most events and achieved more \'top 3\'s\' than any other member.
• Shorty Callow was awarded \'Most improved\'. Shorty shaved 4.5 shots off his handicap over the season.
• Paul Nightingale also deserves a mention for the most NTP\'s this season.

Congratulations to Matthew Bazeley who won our Club Championship for the 2019/20 season. He shot a gross 75, though Denver Farrell and Tony Benecke gave him a good battle during the course of the round. Denver and Matthew were both on the same score coming up the Trump International\'s last hole, but unfortunately Denver had a unfortunate tee shot which found the water on the left - one of very few errant shots on the day. Matthew kept his nerve and parred the 18th to win his first Club Championship - congratulations!

The net division was also tight with 12 players amassing 30 points or more. Kevin Howe came good with the day\'s top net score of 37 points, beating Shorty Callow by 1 point.

Nearest-the-pins were won by Rupendra Chhetri (3), Karl Huldal (5), Dean Moss (15) and Matt Bazeley (17).
