See you there!
Dear All,
We have noticed a growing trend of either late cancellations (cancelling once registration for an event has closed) and “no-shows” (Society Members or guests of Members not turning up on the day of an event). Although we acknowledge that there are genuine reasons for this happening, this has an impact on both the finances of the Society (unless we have reserves or are able to “phone a friend” to accommodate, more often than not we are charged for the slot) and the overall structure of an event.
Therefore, the Committee have decided to implement a penalty of Dhs 300 for any late cancellation or “no-show”, irrespective of reasons and/or whether we are able to fill the slot with reserves - note, if the cancellation and/or “no-show” is a guest of a Member, then the Member is responsible for the payment of the fine. Furthermore, the Member will not be able to register for future events until the fine is paid.
We understand that this is a draconian measure, but feel that we need to nip this growing trend in the bud to ensure fairness and hope you all understand the reasons for us taking this stance.
Kind regards,
Committee Emirates Golf Society

The \"nearest-the-pin\" prizes were won by Matt Bazeley (hole 8) and Kader Tazerout (hole 12) who received a dozen Titleist Pro V1s for their great shots. Tony Benecke won the longest drive with a massive hit on hole 16 and Tim Collins won the straightest drive on hole 18 - both won a Callaway Laser Rangefinder.

As mentioned, David won the net prize who (with a host of others) carded a net 73. Matthew Bazeley came second and David Ladd-Thomas third, based on a count-back of the back nines.

Nearest-the-pins were won by: Guenter Hirsch (4th hole), Franck Michaud (7th and 11th holes) and Didier Saunders (15th hole).

Again, many thanks to Duncan Davies from Emirates Flight Catering who kindly sponsors our premier event of the season.
Summer Challenge Results
Many congratulations to Didier Sanders who won this years Summer Challenge event - his best two scores, both 37 points, at the second and third event combining to give 74 points was to prove unassailable by the chasing pack at the last event. Great golf in hot and humid conditions!
On the day, the individual event was won by Adam Moore, a guest with 37 points. He was closely followed by Steve Allen on 36 points and Didier (again, though not reaching his previous heights) with 33 points. NTPs were won by Archie Gemmell, Steve Allen, Mazen Qursha and Craig Williams.
Many thanks to all those who joined and made the Summer events so successful.
Winter Schedule
Please note, our winter schedule is now nearly upon us, and the first of these - the EKFC Club Championship - is now open for registration on the website. Please note, these next five events are our “premier”” events, which are heavily sponsored to our members and thus registration is now only available to fully “paid-up” members of the Society. Places will be limited and thus registration should be made as early as possible. With this in mind, spaces for guests will also be limited, though we will always try to accommodate if we can (though they will not be able to win prizes apart from NTPs).
Fri 21 Oct: EKFC Club Championship at Majlis, Emirates GC. Dhs 170.
Fri 11 Nov: Boeing Golf Day at Faldo, Emirates GC. Dhs 170.

\r\nIt was a hot and humid day at the Creek for the third of our four Summer Challenges, though there were still some good scores…. Didier Sanders (37 points), Peter Boylan (36 points) and Paul Nightingale (34 points) took the major spoils on Saturday. NTPs were won by Stephen Holl, Mike Belt, Matt Bazeley and Craig Williams.
The winners for our previous event (second of the four Summer Challenge events) at the Faldo were: Leonard Thagarajan (39 points), Gary McGouran (37 points) and Dylan Mustard (37 points) respectively. NTPs were won by Mazen Qursha and Tony Benecke.
The overall winner of the Summer Challenge is the EGS member (non-Guest) with the best two scores over the course of the four events. Therefore, with one event still to play for, one good score would make all the difference! The current leaders are: Didier Sanders (74 points), Peter Boylan (71 points) and Gary McGouran (67 points).
Note: We have yet to distribute the prizes for these last two events, though we plan to do this at our last event in September.
